The Ship's Boy Chamber is open every day. Here you can learn more about life as a ship's boy and familiarize yourself with items that were part of the ship's boy's everyday life. You will find the Ship's Boy Chamber on the ground floor, opposite the Knotting Shed.

A ship's boy was a boy who was trained to become a sailor. Ship's boys were trained on land during the winter and at sea during the summer.

In the Ship's Boy Chamber, you can, among other things, try to figure out which items are hidden in the closed wooden boxes or guess the weight of different-sized cannonballs.

The Ship's Boy Corps

The Ship's Boy Corps existed between 1685 and 1939. The Corps' task was to recruit, nurture, and educate young boys in seamanship. The Ship's Boy Corps existed, among other places, in Karlskrona, and the minimum admission age was eight years old.
