A few days apart at the start of World War II, three damaged Polish submarines arrived in the neutral Sweden. The submarines and their crews of just over 170 men remained in internment in Sweden for more than five years, until the end of the war. Some of them returned to Poland, while others chose to stay in Sweden.
In the exhibition, you will receive the memories of crew members in the form of photographs, letters and stories. The material is originally from the submariners' private photo albums, and the audio recordings are made by their children.
The exhibition has been designed in collaboration between the Naval Museum and the Naval Museum of Polish Gdynia, Muzeum Marynarki Wojennej.
